Fans were left deeply concerned after American Idol judge and music legend Lionel Richie, 77, was forced to cut short the opening night of his new North American tour following a frightening health scare on stage.
The incident took place during the first stop of Richie’s “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour with Earth, Wind & Fire in St. Paul, Minnesota. Nearly an hour into the concert, the Grammy-winning singer appeared unsteady while performing his classic hit “Dancing on the Ceiling.”

In videos that quickly spread across social media, Richie can be seen sitting down in the middle of the performance before addressing the audience with a candid admission.
“When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” Richie told the crowd, adding that it was the first time in his career he had ever performed the song while seated.

Despite the scare, Richie continued the show briefly by performing “Three Times a Lady” from the piano. However, he soon announced an unexpected intermission, telling fans he didn’t want to risk collapsing on stage.
After nearly 40 minutes of waiting, Richie’s saxophonist, Dino Soldo, returned to inform the audience that the singer was not well enough to continue and that the remainder of the concert had been canceled.
Emergency personnel later transported Richie to a local hospital for evaluation. While no official diagnosis has been released, reports suggest the singer may have been suffering from dehydration, though his representatives have not yet confirmed the exact cause.

The unexpected incident sparked an outpouring of support online, with thousands of fans sending well wishes and hoping the beloved entertainer makes a full recovery. Many praised Richie for recognizing that something was wrong and putting his health first instead of trying to push through the performance.
At the time of writing, organizers have not announced whether any upcoming tour dates will be postponed or rescheduled, and fans are awaiting an official update on Richie’s condition.
For now, supporters around the world are simply hoping the music icon recovers quickly and returns to the stage when he is fully healthy.
