McCreery has recorded his own version of Conway Twitty’s legendary “Hello Darlin’” for his new album, 15, released July 17, 2026, through Triple Tigers Records.
The album celebrates 15 years of McCreery’s career and serves as both a look back at his biggest accomplishments and a tribute to the music that influenced him.
For McCreery, “Hello Darlin’” was an especially natural choice. He has performed the song during live shows for years, giving him plenty of experience putting his own spin on the classic.
Originally written and recorded by Twitty, “Hello Darlin’” tells the emotional story of a man reconnecting with a former love. He asks how she has been, wonders whether she has moved on and admits that he still misses her and regrets how their relationship ended.
The song’s straightforward arrangement leaves plenty of space for the emotion in the lyrics—and McCreery’s deep, resonant voice fits the material perfectly.
A classic that became a country landmark
Twitty released “Hello Darlin’” in March 1970 as the lead single and title track from his album of the same name.
The song quickly became a massive country hit, reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart and remaining at the top for four weeks. It was also named Billboard’s No. 1 country song of 1970.
Its influence has lasted for generations. Twitty’s recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, and in 2025, Billboard ranked “Hello Darlin’” at No. 44 on its list of the 100 Best Country Songs of All Time.
That legacy makes McCreery’s decision to record the song particularly meaningful.

McCreery also revisits two other notable country songs, recording Kris Kristofferson’s “Why Me, Lord?” and giving fans another version of Josh Turner’s “Your Man,” this time with Turner himself joining him.
With “Hello Darlin’” added to the collection, 15 becomes more than a career retrospective. It is also a celebration of the traditional country sound that helped shape McCreery as an artist.
