A father-and-two-sons trio from Michigan left the America’s Got Talent judges and audience spellbound with a heartfelt performance of “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
Performing as The Sound, the family opened their audition completely a cappella, inviting the audience to clap along before seamlessly transitioning into a full-band performance. Their rich harmonies and emotional delivery had the crowd singing with them, building to what seemed like a perfect finale.
But just as the judges rose for a standing ovation, The Sound surprised everyone by returning for one final a cappella verse, bringing the performance to a powerful and emotional close.
The judges were full of praise. Mel B called their harmonies “perfection,” while Sofía Vergara predicted America would fall in love with the trio. Howie Mandel admitted the unexpected ending fooled everyone—including the production crew.
Simon Cowell praised the family’s talent but offered one challenge for the next round. Calling the audition “very safe,” he encouraged the trio to take bigger creative risks if they want to stand out in the competition.
Despite the critique, The Sound earned four yes votes, securing their place in the next round of America’s Got Talent and proving they’re a family band to watch this season.
