Scotty McCreery gave fans a memory they will not soon forget when he invited his 3-year-old son, Avery, onto the stage during his recent concert in Oklahoma City.
The country star was performing at Paycom Center on Saturday, August 8, where he opened for Cody Johnson. During his set, McCreery performed several of his biggest hits, including his 2023 song “Cab in a Solo.”
But near the end of the performance, the show took a heartwarming turn.
Avery steals the spotlight
As McCreery continued singing, he brought little Avery onto the stage. Dressed in denim overalls and wearing oversized hearing-protection earmuffs, the toddler quickly became the center of attention.
Fan-recorded videos captured the sweet moment as McCreery knelt beside his son and encouraged him to wave to the cheering crowd.
Then came an even more special surprise.
McCreery asked Avery if he wanted to sing. After the little boy nodded, his proud dad handed him the microphone.
Avery confidently sang the final line of the song, prompting a huge cheer from the Oklahoma City crowd.
The moment lasted only a few seconds, but it created one of the most memorable scenes of the night. For McCreery, it was also a chance to share the stage with his son and create a special memory in front of thousands of fans.

McCreery is celebrating a major career milestone
The special appearance comes during a significant year for McCreery.
The singer is celebrating 15 years since winning American Idol, the achievement that launched his country music career. To mark the milestone, he released his retrospective album 15 on July 17.
The project features some of the biggest songs from his career, including “Cab in a Solo,” “Five More Minutes,” “This Is It,” “In Between” and “Damn Strait.”
The album also includes new music and several special covers. McCreery reunited with Josh Turner for a new version of “Your Man,” the song he famously performed during his American Idol audition 15 years ago. He also recorded Conway Twitty’s “Hello Darlin’” and Kris Kristofferson’s “Why Me, Lord?”
McCreery has certainly come a long way since that American Idol audition.
And now, with his 3-year-old son confidently stepping up to the microphone, fans have already been given a glimpse of the next generation of McCreery talent—even if Avery’s biggest performance for now is simply making his dad and the crowd smile.
